Nur so, wieso erstellst Du ein Verzeichniss dafür? dpkg kümmert sich
schond arum, wo die Dateien hin müssen.

Was steht denn in Deiner /etc/apt/sources.list?
AFAIK müsste proftpd in Woody drin sein, ich hab ihn doch früher auch
mal benutzt.
