Schau mal in das Linux PPP-HowTo, unter 8.3. The syslog says "serial
line is not 8 bit clean" werden verschiedene Möglichkeiten aufgeführt,
die zu dieser Meldung führen können. Googlen nach dieser Meldung könnte
auch helfen.
