Daisy Player: segmentation fault

Geachte Debian groep,

http://developer.skolelinux.no/info/studentgrupper/2006-hig-daisyplayer/

De ontwikkelaars op
http://developer.skolelinux.no/info/studentgrupper/2006-hig-daisyplayer/www-files/p-developers/
zijn niet meer per e-mail te bereiken. Ik zit vast en
heb niet voldoende Linux kennis voor deze klus.
Vandaar dat ik de vraag hier stel.

Ik schreef de developers:

I'm trying to install the Daisy Player (console and
GUI) on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and experience some problems.
Hope you can help us out. I'm trying to find a cost
effective solution for visually impaired people but my
Linux experience is limited.

This is what I did:

- downloaded the libdaisy, daisyconsole and daisygui
0.2.4_i386.deb's from:
http://developer.skolelinux.no/info/studentgrupper/2006-hig-daisyplayer/www-files/p-download/

- studied the 'dcs' texts to find out which
dependencies are needed.

- Installed them via the Ubuntu software center. They
were properly installed IMHO.

- used the command in the FAQ to install the threed
debs. The libdaisy deb was installed as the first one.

sudo dpkg -i package_name.deb

- Everything seemed OK, that is all debs were marked
'installed' in the Ubuntu software center.
- When loading a DAISY CD via the GUI I get:
'segmentation fault'.
- the same error occurs with the console player.

I started all over on another machine (from
downloading to loading a Daisy CD) but got the same error.

Would it be an idea to make a complete package of the
Daisy Player for the latest Ubuntu LTS? It would make
the Daisy Player much more accessible for other
unexperienced Ubuntu users.

Hoping you can help us out,
with kind regards,
Dirk Schouten

Het zou een grote aanwinst zijn als we een
werkende Daisy Speler voor Ubuntu zouden hebben.
Met vriendelijke groet,
