Currently the package seems to be in a good state, but it looks as if the maintainer stopped working after the first few releases, as the last bugs were solved by NMU's. So, it looks like a candidate for ITS. Feel free to start the process and use Debian TeX task force as as maintainer. Will you move the repo to salsa? If you need help, call back.
