I'm working on a voluminous book and it is not practical to share

I can't understand exactly the use of -kpathsea-debug=NNNN. What means
NNNN? Is a path for a file? If I put a path for a file it isn't
created anything and the log file created after the compilation is the
same as without -kpathsea-debug.
Note also that the problem is not that Texlive 2024 is slow, but that
2024.20240401-2 is slower than 2023.20240207-1
Thanks
