Package: texlive-latex-extra
Version: 2017.20180110-1

While typesetting a book using the odf->md->docbook->dblatex path, I ran
into this error from LaTeX:

  [127] (/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/ucs/data/uninames.dat)
  (/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/ucs/data/uni-32.def)

! Package ucs Error: Unknown Unicode character 8202 = U+200A,
  (ucs) possibly declared in uni-32.def.
(ucs) Type H to see if it is available with options.

See the ucs package documentation for explanation.
Type H <return> for immediate help.
   ...

  l.6839 for noncommercial use
                                       — and there have been many, many do...

  ?

The problematic character is the HTML entity  , unicode character
U+200A, also known as hair space.

Could ucs be extended to understand this Unicode character?

I found some notes on LaTeX and hair space in
<URL: http://www.read.seas.harvard.edu/~kohler/latex.html > which might
be useful. :)

Maybe, but this is neither a problem of Debian nor our upstream TeX
Live. If you are interested in pursuing this, please contact the
authors of UCS. Furthermore note that ucs looks like unmaintained or
at least not under development since LaTeX with inputenc now provide
UTF8/UCS support.

You might find this answer
https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/201078/what-is-the-use-case-for-the-ucs-package
insightful on how to setup something related to what you want.

Closing this bug according to the Debian TeX guidelines as a but that is
neither concerned with Debian nor upstream TeX Live, but upupstream.

Thanks

Norbert
