Source: texlive-base Dear maintainers, In my opionion texlive packages should not recommend the corrispondent -doc packages. This "force" users to download a huge amount of useless data. I'm speaking in particular about reverse dependencies: if a program wants to use a texlive binaries, it have to depend (or recommend) a texlive package, but this is not always convenient. I just hit such a case: see bug #732694. So I'm asking you to: * texlive-latex-recommended: demote texlive-latex-recommended-doc from Recommends to Suggests * texlive-latex-base: demote texlive-latex-base-doc from Recommends to Suggests * texlive-pictures: demote texlive-pictures-doc from Recommends to Suggests * texlive-metapost: demote texlive-metapost-doc from Recommends to Suggests * texlive-fonts-recommended: demote texlive-fonts-recommended-doc from Recommends to Suggests Thanks in advance. -- regards, Mattia Rizzolo GPG Key: 4096R/B9444540 http://goo.gl/I8TMB more about me: http://mapreri.org Launchpad User: https://launchpad.net/~mapreri Ubuntu Wiki page: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MattiaRizzoloAttachment: signature.asc

> In my opionion texlive packages should not recommend the corrispondent -doc Discussed many times, no need to rediscuss. Look up the BTS. If we don't recommend, with *might* be in conflict with LPPL, and there are authors who can get very picky about that. End of the line. Too many times. > packages. This "force" users to download a huge amount of useless data. Wrong. You can decide to *not* download them. These are not dependencies.
