Hello Vincent,
thanks for your bug report.
Indeed patent is not considered as a default entry type
(see it is not listed in `/usr/share/bibtool/default.rsc').
Nevertheless bibtool allows to introduce new entry type:
you may use your own ReSourCe file (see the Manual for details).
