Bug#737269: tex-gyre: should only (at most) recommend fonts-texgyre

Nope: Notice how I wrote "some of". :-)

I use XeTeX myself for some things, and find it a higher quality
producer than Scribus and Ghostscript, but that's besides the point
(professional grade does not necessarily imply high quality).

If ConTexT always(!) need OpenType flavor of Tex Gyre, then package
context should directly depend on package fonts-texgyre.

If however (as it seems you describe the situation) - ConTexT only by
default, but not for *all* uses of that tool, need OpenType flavor of
Tex Gyre, then package context should directly *recommend* package
fonts-texgyre.

The example of ConTexT that you bring up is therefore an argument for -
not against - relaxing from depends to recommends - and for a different
package than this bugreport is about.

I beg to disagree, and kindly request you to reopen this bugreport.

Debian Policy explicitly describes "Recommends:" to be the correct
relation to use when a package in unneeded for an an unusual
installation:

The `Recommends' field should list packages that would be found
together with this one in all but unusual installations.

I am aware that there are other more complex solution to my problem.

Do you not recognize this as an unusual installation, that do not need
fonts-texgyre pulled in by tex-gyre?
