I didn't consciously create it. It says it was auto-generated by update-updmap, in May 2012. It contains the basic stuff (lm-*.map and qXX.map), plus extra entries for musixtex.cfg cm-super.cfg cm-super-minimal.cfg tipa.cfg, I don't know if some other package somehow created it.

If there is nothing in there, please remove it (or better,
rename it).

After removing this file, I could purge musixtex with no problem, thanks.

So I guess the only question is how I ended up with that file (I didn't do any customization). I guess unless other people have it as well you can close the bug and assume I messed up something (or some old version of some package did).
