Package: texlive-latex-extra
Version: 2009-10
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream
The hyperxmp package adds some XML metadata to PDF files, providing the
document author, title, copyright information, etc in machine-parseable
format. The package documentation claims to support various methods of
producing a PDF from latex source (pdflatex, latex+dvips+ps2pdf,
latex+dvipdfm, xelatex, and lualatex). However, some of the metadata is lost
when using some of those methods.
Specifically, I've found that the pdfcopyright and pdflicenseurl fields are
lost when using latex+dvips+ps2pdf, while the pdfauthor and pdftitle fields
are retained. latex+dvipdfm fails to include any metadata. Only pdflatex
includes all four fields.
The metadata can be found in the PDF file using 'strings' and searching for
the lines between '<?xpacket begin="' and '<?xpacket end="w"?>. Or just grep
for the metadata information defined in the test file provided below.
-- Package-specific info:
If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries
(latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong
output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the
error in your report.
Please run your example with
(pdf)latex -recorder ...
(or any other program that supports -recorder) and send us the generated
file with the extension .fls, it lists all the files loaded during
the run and can easily explain problems induced by outdated files in
your home directory.
Don't forget to also include minimal examples of other files that are
needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!
If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of
output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem),
you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that
can be found at
http://www.latex-einfuehrung.de/mini-en.html (english)
or

Dear bug submitter,
the bug you have submitted against one of the TeX packages concerns
not the Debian packaging of TeX Live, nor the upstream TeX Live
distribution itself, but Up-upstream, the original author of
the respective package.
TeX Live only collects what authors provide.
Thus, neither we, the Debian TeX Team, nor the Upstream TeX Live team
can fix anything regarding this bug.
Furthermore, the bug you have reported is rather old.
We suggest you to do the following:
* verify that the bug is still present with current TeX Live (2013)
installation on Debian
* if yes, please report the bug to the *original* author of the TeX
package, and *not* to upstream TeX Live nor Debian
Other ways to deal with these bugs are requesting help from TeX experts,
your local TeX consultant, or local TeX User Groups. One good place to
ask questions is the newsgroup comp.text.tex, or the StackExchange
website http://tex.stackexchange.com
Thanks a lot for your understanding
Norbert
