the texlive-fonts-recommended package ships a redundat copy of the Bitstream
Charter font which is also available in the xfonts-scalable package:

Please make texlive-fonts-recommended depend on xfonts-scalable and replace the
font copy with symlinks. Also, then it does not make sense anymore to symlink
these fonts into /usr/share/fonts to make them available for fontconfig, since
they will already be there via xfonts-scalable.
