aptitude can be configured (and I think it may be by default) to
automatically install all the recommended packages.  It nags if you
don't.

Yes, I know - but none of these packages should install a desktop
environment AFAIS.  And if you want to use TeX packages without X11,
you'll have to drop recommends, anyway.

I dropped recommends and I configured apt accordingly.
