Ok, I have now packages that do that, and it seems to work, with
two exceptions, one easy and one (probably) not so easy:
* tl-paper generates the new config files *-paper* not in
/var/lib/texmf/, but in /etc/texmf ... I have to check what the
  path configurations are

* (HELP) I removed the config files (config.ps, XDvi, dvipdfmx.cfg,
pdftexconfig.tex) with dpkg-maintscript-helper and purged it from
  the ucf database.
The problem is that *ALWAYS* a *.dpkg-bak remains.
  I assume that:
  - dpkg records a md5sum
  - ucf plays around with it
  - dpkg-maintscript-helper realizes something has changed, and
    creates a dpkg-bak
Anyone knows a way around that???

Best wishes

What from? You just said there's no
one here.'
`Yeah, well, just for safety, OK?' said Zaphod.
`Whose? Yours or mine?'
