Well, evince pulls in the gnome libs, which make the package
non-lightweighted for people not using gnome. I wouldn't like to drop
xdvi and tell people they should use evince instead.

I know there are a few dvi viewers in Debian. Could you make a list?
Maybe there is another viewer, which could act as replacement as long
as libt1 is needed by xdvi.
