Bug#664074: texlive-bin: Unneeded linking of xdvik
Package: texlive-binaries
Version: 2011.20120307-1
Severity: wishlist
Dear Maintainer,
from the build logs of the latest versions of our packages:
dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on libXext.so.6 could be avoided if
"debian/texlive-binaries/usr/bin/mf
debian/texlive-binaries/usr/bin/xdvi-xaw" were not uselessly linked against
it (they use none of its symbols).
dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on libSM.so.6 could be avoided if
"debian/texlive-binaries/usr/bin/mf
debian/texlive-binaries/usr/bin/xdvi-xaw" were not uselessly linked against
it (they use none of its symbols).
dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on libICE.so.6 could be avoided if
"debian/texlive-binaries/usr/bin/mf
debian/texlive-binaries/usr/bin/xdvi-xaw" were not uselessly linked against
it (they use none of its symbols).
In old times (TL 2009) we had the patch 60_unneeded_linking, which avoided
this. In TL 2012 it is commented:
#replaced by --as-needed for dh_autoreconf#60_unneeded_linking
However running autoreconf does not seem to solve the problem. I run
autoreconf on the source tree, yes texk/xdvik/Makefile.in and
texk/web2cMakefile.in were touched, but still it would link with
libXext.so.6 etc.
