Package: texlive-latex-extra
Version: 2009-10
Severity: normal
File: /usr/share/texmf-texlive/tex/latex/dinbrief

Hi,

I cannot make 'dinbrief' work with debian squeeze. Even the example
file supplied by texlive-latex-extra-doc won't work:

  gunzip -c /usr/share/doc/texlive-latex-extra-doc/latex/dinbrief/example.tex.gz > test.tex
  latex test.tex

results in:

This is pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-1.40.10 (TeX Live 2009/Debian)

I have a lot of stuff that uses dinbrief.sty. Is there any known
workaround (other than recode everything to use g-brief2.sty)?

cheers,

David
-- Package-specific info:
If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries
(latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong
output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the
error in your report.

Please run your example with
	(pdf)latex -recorder ...
(or any other program that supports -recorder) and send us the generated
file with the extension .fls, it lists all the files loaded during
the run and can easily explain problems induced by outdated files in
your home directory.

Don't forget to also include minimal examples of other files that are
needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of
output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem),
you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that
can be found at

http://www.latex-einfuehrung.de/mini-en.html (english)

or

May I quote form the german documentation (I guess you speak german):

Bei häufigem Briefeschreiben kommt sicher bald der Wunsch nach einem
eigenen Briefkopf auf; auch dies ist mit LATEX zu verwirklichen. Am
besten eröffnet man sich in seiner Briefdatei (die man sicher früher
oder später anlegen wird) ein File mit dem Namen brfkopf.tex. In
dieses kann man z.B. den Briefkopf in Abb. 3 aufnehmen.

...well and this is exactly what they did in their example. After
commenting that \input brfkopf from the example and throw away
references to defintions which are expected to be in there
(\backaddress, \yourmail) the example works fine.

BTW: there is an example for brfkopf.tex in texlive-latex-extra-doc
