You forwarded that bug only to the bug mailing list. Today I wanted
submit it to their official BTS, but failed to reproduce the bug:

hille@drachi:~/t1$ texi2dvi a.texi
egrep: Invalid range end
This is pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-1.40.10 (TeX Live 2009/Debian)
entering extended mode
(./a.texi (/usr/share/texmf/tex/texinfo/texinfo.tex

conditionals, indexing, sectioning, toc, environments, defuns, macros,

) localization, formatting, and turning on texinfo input format.) [1]
)
Output written on a.dvi (1 page, 504 bytes).
Transcript written on a.log.

This is not Debian unstable, but Debian stable but it should not make
any difference. What am I missing?

Thanks,
  H.
