I didn't check if the code made it into upstream. I simply compiled
the example code (w/o the patch) using TL 2009. To me the problem
seems to be solved. Then I compiled the code on Debian stable (TL
2007) and I don't see a problem either.

Could you explain? Is the problem solved in TL 2009?
