I see. I can set up my own local installation in ~/.texmf or
$HOME/texmf.  That will do the job for me.

Nevertheless, I found the prerelease texlive-latex-extra_*.deb in
Norbert's directories (I won't repeat the address out of respect for you
wanting to discourage people to use it).  It works well enough (I had to
install with --force-overwrite --force-depends).  

It's just document generation, "What Could Possibly Go Wrong?" lol :)
If it starts screwing up badly, I'll turn to the $HOME solution
instead.  

Do you have an estimate for when the proper version of the upgrade
should be ready?
