This is only done on armel, cause of a bug in g++4.3, which
existed(?), see #483939.  It causes an FTBFS on that arch. 
Unfortunately the submitter didn't report the bug number in the DBTS,
hence I can't check fast if the bug is fixed.

Do you have a chance to check if the bug is still present in the
compiler?
