When I use the picins-package :
\usepackage{picins}

and assign a caption to a floated picture :
\piccaption{Caption of the figure}
\parpic[l]{\includegraphics[scale=1]{examplefigure.eps}

the caption disappear in the list of figures :
\listoffigures

To solve the problem, change the line nr. 79 in picins.sty
( /usr/share/texmf-tetex/tex/latex/picins/picins.sty ) from :

\def\piccaption{\@ifnextchar [{\@piccaption}{\@piccaption[]}}

to :

\def\piccaption{\@dblarg{\@piccaption}}
