I googled a little bit and found only these two main differences:

- the sort order has changed
  * bibtex: 0-9,A-Z,a-z
  * bibtex8: 0-9,A,a,B,b,C etc.
- bibtex8 returns exit code 1 in case of warnings.

I propose to remove the old bibtex binary and document that change
prominently in the NEWS file.
