Here is the version information from Debian unstable:
hille@kloetzer:~ $ dvips --version
dvips(k) 5.96.1
kpathsea version 3.5.6
Copyright (C) 2007 Radical Eye Software.
Hence I have to assume, that it works fine in Debian unstable. Can
you confirm this or provide a minimal example so I can check this?
Else I must assume that the bug is fixed in unstable and would like
to close it.
