No patterns work for LuaTeX in TL 2008, at least not properly (except
for maybe English, Italian, Welsh, ...). If you want to solve that,
you need to include the hyph-utf8 package.
If you only want to solve the issue for Ukrainian - include the
package & only change a single line in language.dat. But you can patch
like that forever ...
