Not surprising ... what did you expect?

So then, if you use not packaged stuff then you cannot expect that it
works if you install it locally.
All these problems are wll known, and the situation will improve with
TeX Live 2008 when it is released and packaged.
But neither of it has happened till now.
So either you help us doing the work, or please do not complain about
missing features not even in upstream included. When you need svn
version for something, and experimental packages, you might consider
installing and compiling all things locally from subversion.
