Ah, so this is important to know. Before you were using tetex packages,
can you tell us which version? I assume tetex 3.

Did you switch to texlive 2005 or texlive 2007?

In any case I really want to see input and output of tetex and output of
texlive if possible. If it is really only the index then a simple
10liner should suffice.
