Is your problem really the same one as Raphael?

What is the output of "ls -l /etc/texmf/language.d/" ?

I'm not a shell expert but then what is your sh?

Is there /tmp/fmtutil.* file yet on your system?
If yes, can you find out some sign of failure?

I'm not sure your problem is the same Raphael's one.
