Re: [Bug 122863] Re: package texlive-base-bin 2007-11 failed to install/upgrade: post-installation script spawns thousands of processes

(How can I send an e-mail to the original submitter, Mads Olesen?)

Sorry, of course I meant etch. tex-common 0.42 is not itself a problem,
but might be together with special circumstances. As I wrote earlier,

,----
| we do *not* have
| sufficiently strict Depends to force the upgrade of tex-common before we
| try to create formats. texlive-common requires tex-common >= 1.4, and
| texlive-base-bin (for example) only requires texlive-common > 2007.
`----

So the obvious thing to do would be to increase the versioned depends of
tex-common to >= 1.8. But before blindly doing that and claiming that
this is enough, I'd rather understand better. Or be able to reproduce
the problem and find that it goes away when upgrading tex-common first.

Can someone please try to repeat an upgrade from feisty (in a chroot?)
to gutsy, with jadetex and xmltex installed before the upgrade? I guess
it happens when starting with teTeX, but I may be mistaken and it
happens with texlive, too.

Partial upgrades might also happen for Debian people upon the
etch->lenny dist-upgrade. And of course we do also care for Ubuntu
users ;-)
