Ermpfff, when I said I would test the upgrade from etch, I wasn't
explicit enough: I can test the upgrade from etch to
etch + TL2007-backport, but not from etch to sid + TL2007.
The above packages cannot be installed on etch because of this:
libkpathsea4 depends on libc6 (>= 2.5-5)
texlive-font-utils depends on libc6 (>= 2.5-5)
texlive-base-bin depends on libc6 (>= 2.5-5)
and etch has 2.3.6.ds1-13.
