Of course we did not remove the poppler patch, I just had to port it to the poppler 0.5 API again. The other change we recently got was to build libkpathsea from texlive-bin instead of tetex-bin, so that we can get rid of tetex. I guess both changes will eventually land in Debian (the kpathsea one could go in right now), so that eventually we will get back in sync. BTW, the poppler patch is not perfect yet since some parts of texlive-bin still use the internal xpdf. I kept that on my TODO list, but it wasn't necessary to bootstrap texlive into Gutsy.
