Maybe you already planned it, but I'll mention it to be sure: I think it
would be appropriate at this point to publicly thank Thomas for his good
work and in particular his clean shell scripts, and remind people that
many of these scripts are still used in TeX Live.

Yeah. I hope your talk will convince people that we don't do things
"differently" in Debian just to annoy TeX users, like I read sometimes
when I browse the Google Groups archives...

Looks good. Maybe you can also talk a little bit about backports.org
(and remind people that backports.org is relatively safe, in that only
DDs can upload there, contrary to wild apt repositories found on the
net). For sarge, I've been using Frank's backports of teTeX 3 for months
(or is it years?) and they work quite fine for me. Of course, for
production use on big sites, the admin should test the upgrades, etc.,
but for simple users like me, I find these packages quite adequate. I'm
not sure if either you or Frank has plans for TL 2007 backports to etch,
but that could be worth pondering and mentioning in case the answer is
yes.
