Ah, sorry.  I understood the part cited above as "after moving the
files, it 'works' in the sense that the latex run succeeds and creates a
DVI file, but the DVI file is still corrupted".  I wanted to investigate
this first.

Okay, it seems to boil down to a problem with the path= directive.

It seems Herbert Voss is one of the authors of pst-map2dII, I think I'll
ask him.
