Re: Re: unable to install texmacs under texlive

Hi Frank,

I created the dummy packages for tetex-base, tetex-bin and tetex-extra, via equivs and dpkg (having to use a --force-conflicts). Unfortunately, when I was to install texmacs, afterwards, there were problems:

andromeda:/home/orca/resources/equivs-tetex# apt-get install texmacs
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
texlive-base: Conflicts: tetex-base but 3.6.2-1 is to be installed
Conflicts: tetex-bin but 3.6.2-1 is to be installed
Conflicts: tetex-extra but 3.6.2-1 is to be installed
texlive-base-bin: Conflicts: tetex-base but 3.6.2-1 is to be installed
Conflicts: tetex-bin but 3.6.2-1 is to be installed

texmacs: Depends: texmacs-common (= 1:1.0.6-10) but it is not going to be installed E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

The same happened when I tried to install texmacs-common...

The reason I chose texlive (instead of tetex) was that I understood that it is somehow more comprehensive than tetex and will eventually replace it. I managed to make kile work with texlive and, in principle, I would like to have latex-beamer as well. Do you think that removing texlive and installing tetex from scratch, then kile and texmacs might be a better decision, while texlive is not fully compliant with other (la)tex packages yet???

Cheers!
