The upstrean author meanwhile provided a patch for the problem. I've
created a fixed binary sitting on [1] for i386. Would you be so kind
to download and test it, if you're still using teTeX? It was just
derived from the binaries of tetex-bin however the dvipdfm binary of
teTeX 2.0 does not differ from that in 3.0 ... well except, that it
is dynamically linked against libkpathsea.so.4 and some other more
recent libs from unstable. :-|
