I sometimes think I should spend most of my working hours on my bicycle
with some sort of recording device ... ;-)

Something like updmap's '--nomkmap'? Sounds good, even though format
creation isn't that time critical. Especially not compared with creating
map files. It doesn't quite fit texconfig's current UI, though.
