BTW, there are several bugs marked as fixed-upstram for teTeX. Should we
try to tackle them? I think some of them also apply to the respective
texlive-* packages. Here is a list:

#381402; fixed in babel v3.8h (Nov 2005); update is probably not easy;
which version is in texlive?

#300130 and #335500; fixed by listings v1.3c (May 2006)

#236967 and #365922; fixed by new marvosym (May 2006)

#293183, #351260, and #367842; fixed by new hyperref (Sep 2006)

These two bugs are probably also 'fixed' by the texlive-* packages:

#303209; fixed by placeins.sty v2.2  (April 2005)

#308952; addition of astrosym fonts
