Dear Thomas,

a user of texdoctk in our Debian teTeX package has reported a feature
request which I'd like to refer to you.

If one of the actions (like view) that call external programs fail, the
error message (spit out on stderr) is either displayed in the terminal
window (if texdoctk was started from there), or not at all if it was
started from the menu. It would be nice if such error messages could be
displayed in a TK dialog box. Even better, the dialog could indicate
the call that texdoctk actually tried. This is because if there is an
error in the mailcap file, the error message won't help many users
(/usr/bin/X11/gv: No such file or directory), while "Error while calling
'see somefile.ps': /usr/bin/X11/gv: No such file or directory" will lead
the user to the see manpage, and ultimately to the wrong mailcap entry.

Thank you for considering,
Frank
