Thats why I called it stupid. I've added the code everywhere it
seemed appropriate to me and gave the whole thing a short testing.

OK, fine. Before doing a major teTeX-release your timetable is is
stuffed with other things than fixing wishlists in upstream
software..
Thanks for your response, if I get better C-knowledge and have more
time I'll have again a look at that.
