Hi, I also have a Dell Latitude D810 and run Debian Squeeze on it. I just finished upgrading, and had very similar problems: 1) The suspend didn't work. Usually I suspend my laptop on closing the lid. 2) The battery indicator didn't update. I resolved both these issues by logging out and in to the Gnome session again.
