A recent (July 2023) update to Microsoft Windows exposed a bug in Samba, which can render updated Windows clients unable to authenticate to a Samba server operating as a Domain Controller. This update resolves that issue. Note that this also includes the new 4.17.9 Samba upstream bugfix release, which will be included in the upcoming 12.1 point release for bookworm.
