Version : 2:4.17.9+dfsg-0+deb12u3 [bookworm]
Importance : medium

Samba is the standard Windows interoperability suite of programs for
Linux, integrating Linux servers and desktops into Active Directory
environments.

A recent (July 2023) update to Microsoft Windows exposed a bug in
Samba, which can render updated Windows clients unable to authenticate
to a Samba server operating as a Domain Controller.

This update resolves that issue. Note that this also includes the new
4.17.9 Samba upstream bugfix release, which will be included in the
upcoming 12.1 point release for bookworm.
