Hi,

I have noticed this:

$ nc old-debian-lenny-machine 22
SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-5

$ nc just-fresh-installed-debian-jessie-machine 22
SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_6.7p1 Debian-5+deb8u1

Why the Debian banner is still advertising Debian 5 on a Debian 8 machine?

Maybe the best solution is to just disable this banner by default ?

Thanks.

It's not.  That indicates that the package version is 1:6.7p1-5+deb8u1;
the version number is mangled a bit to suit the banner format, inserting
" Debian". The fact that the Debian revision happens to begin with "5"
in both cases is coincidence.
