Package: openssh-client
Version: 1:4.3p2-9
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***

scp hangs forever when trying to copy a named pipe from a remote server.

Try the following to reproduce:

(remote)
mkfifo /test

(local)
scp -rp remote:/test .
Password:
(hangs forever here)

(remote)
>echo "free me from hell" > /test

(local)
scp: /test: not a regular file
>
(process ended)

Expected result:
1) The operation should not hang, but print the "not a regular file" error immediatly.
2) scp should print the file it tries to transfer before actually starting the operation. (It is hard to know which$

Remote system runs openssh-server, version 1:4.3p2-9.

Daniel Mellergårdh

Yes, as you say, this is fixed in newer versions of openssh. Closing the
