Sorry to say, but on a Sun Fire V240 with serial console this dies with:

The file just loaded does not appear to be executable.


With a debian etch CD this box boots:

...
                  Welcome to Debian GNU/Linux etch!

So, the hardware is OK and hasn't turned into a toaster ;-)
