Any ideas why the console getty could crash the system?
These messages are most probably a consequence of the crash, and not the
cause. The error messages in the log indicate that init is trying to start
getty's, but they are dying immediately. If the problems is not too severe
(like faulty hardware, or something), you could probably ssh into the box.
Then running getty manually will give you a hint on what went wrong.
