With the rationale thats its needed
a) For variant forms of stylesheet?
   E.g. to pull in either wml or html versions
b) to facilitate selection of 'trial' versions of stylsheets
   prior to dumping old versions known to work

Whats the betting the pat answer is 'xml don't do catalogs'.
