I wouldn't reccomend installing the package from stable with the
workaround you posted, that is a global setting and might mess up with
other software you have installed.
The package on lenny has not been updated from etch apparently, you need
the newer one that is in the squeeze repo.
A good way of managing a mixed system setup is described in this forum

While installing the debian package, remember to use the
apt-get install package/testing
notation, opposed to
apt-get install package -t testing
to avoid installing all the dependencies from testing. Further info here:
