I can't imagine us changing the way su works by default. The only way to make "su user" not have this problem by default is to proxy the pseudo-tty stuff.

But we don't change the default action.
su with an option "--leak-tty" i.e. will do the job.
So renaming to initsu or adding an option to su are comparable
task.
