Re: Is the chemical media type still used?

Hi Charles,

If the chemical top-level media type is still relevant, maybe some
people on this list would like to register it to the IANA?  A recent RFC

If the chemical media type is not relevant anymore, I would like to
remove it.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks for bringing this to light. In my dayjob I deal mostly with files carrying chemical information. Therefore I would be happy if chemical media types were retained, and if that requires registering chemical/*, then let's do it. Lots of chemical media types are not connected to specific applications, thus I do not think that migration to application/* is appropriate.

Are there more supporters for such cause? I have little knowledge of IANA's affairs, it would really help to have someone with experience.

Best,
Andrius
