I just tried with a group I admin. I got a 500 error after some time, but alioth actually linked the Debian role.
Then I can click on "Edit permissions" button, there is a "SCM" permission, and I can set "Commit access".

The "Users and permissions" section has on the right side lower part a
section:
Available external roles
Role name
and there I can select
Debian Developer (in project Debian group Debian)
The only "Action" I can do with this is "Link external role".
If I do so I get a white screen in my browser - Alioth seems to have
trouble processing this.
Any idea what might be wrong here?
Kind regards
Andreas.
